Overview:

IndigoVision’s Mainstream™ H.264 video encoder IP adds high-performance H.264 video encoding to existing systems. It is particularly suited to adding video encoding capabilities to cameras and other portable, battery-powered devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs.

The Mainstream™ H.264 video encoder is fully compliant with the H.264 Baseline Profile standard. The encoder contains support for higher performance compression and can encode arbitrary resolutions up to 720x576 pixel resolutions, and beyond, all at full frame rate.

Based on the single clocked, synchronous, fully hardware pipelined Mainstream™ architecture the encoder requires minimal intervention from a host processor and can be controlled by a low-cost, low-power processor such as in an ARM or MIPS based SOC.

Features:

  • H.264 Video Encoder

    • Fully compliant ISO 14496-10 MPEG-4 AVC Baseline Profile up to Level 3

    • Resolutions up to 720x576/480 pixels at 25/30fps

    • High compression performance

    • Programmable slice control

    • Encodes bitstreams up to 12Mbps

    • Encodes completely up to and including RBSP slice level

    • Full read access to internal compression data, such as motion vectors

    • Hardware or software control of slice pipeline
